Itinerary
DESCRIPTION:This is a full day tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We'll first visit the small town of Pisaq and go to the local agricultural market, where peasants and artisans are congregated. After lunch at a country restaurant, the tour continues to the North, to visit Ollantaytambo; a magnificent fortress built during the reign of the Great Inca Pachacutec and an excellent sample of Incan military architecture.
OPTION: Overnight stay at the hotel of your choice, in the Sacred Valley.
Then, we´ll head towards Chinchero; a colonial village located 28 km. away from the city of Cusco, at 3.762 m. above sea level. This village is surrounded by a magnificent landscape flanqued by the snow-capped Chicón and Wequey mountains. In this district we´ll find the remains of Tupac Inca Yupanqui´s Royal Farm. Chinchero was an ancient agricultural center and on its Main Square, there is a beautiful colonial church erected over Incan foundations. We´ll also be able to visit the handicrafts market, where the local people still trade their products among themselves.
