    Itinerary

    Mollepata - Salkantay is a different trek to get to Machu Picchu, by little explored Incan trails. So, enjoy the landscapes and nature´s beauty, along with their exotic flora and fauna, during the whole adventure, as you walk across mountains and valleys.


    1st DAY: At 5:00 a.m., we'll leave the city of CUSCO, to go to the village of MOLLEPATA, where we´ll arriving at about 8:00 a.m., to then start our long walk, with the support personnel. By 12:00 noon, we'll serve lunch in Silca´s countryside and after three hours of walking, we''ll arrive at our first camp, in SORAYPAMPA.

    2nd DAY: Leaving around 7:00 a.m., we'll cross the place called SALKANTAY PAMPAS. By 12:00 noon, we'll be at the high point, near MOUNTS SALKANTAY and UMANTAY, at about 4,500 m. of altitude. There, we'll observe the SALKANTAY's GLACIERS and get a better view of the snow avalanches. After one hour or so, we'll have lunch and then, after three hours of trek, we'll arrive at the place called ANDENES, where we'll set the second camp.

    3rd DAY: This will be an unforgettable day, because throughout our trek, we'll see a great diversity of flora and fauna, descending towards the rainforest's edge, where we'll appreciate the formation process of thermal waters, in a small valley. Then, we'll follow the course of the SANTA TERESA RIVER, observing a wide variety of orchids, as well as many water falls of great magnitude. Finally, at about 3:00 p.m., we'll arrive at our campsite, in SAHUALLAKU, where we'll have dinner and will spend the night.

    4th DAY: At 07:30 a.m., we'll take a truck or bus to the village of SANTA TERESA, to then walk on a dirt road to MACHU PICCHU´S HYDROELECTRIC PLANT AND BARRAGE. After lunch, we'll walk along the railroad tracks, to get to AGUAS CALIENTES at about 3:00 p.m.

    5th DAY: Early in the morning, after breakfast, we'll dedicate the day to the visit of the Historical Sanctuary of MACHUPICCHU and at about 3:30 p.m., we'll go back to the city of CUSCO, on the "Backpacker" train and will transfer you to your hotel.

    Tourist transportation from Cusco to Mollepata and "Backpacker" train from Aguas Calientes to Cusco, entrance fee to Machu Picchu, all meals, camping equipment, double occupancy tents, camping mattresses, dining tent, kitchen tent and sleeping bags (optional), horses and porters to transport the food and camping equipment, hostel in Aguas Calientes, professional bilingual guide and optional food for vegetarians.
